Description
Extremely floriferous with flower clusters that cover nearly all of the foliage like snow, the ‘Tahoe’ Candytuft is the earliest flowering of all varieties we’ve grown in our gardens. The plant grows about 6 inches tall and 10 inches when blooming and spreads in a dense, low mound to about 24 inches in a couple of years. As mentioned, Tahoe Candytuft is smothered in stunning clusters of white flowers at the ends of the stems from early to mid spring and its attractive, narrow leaves remain green year round. An excellent low border plant.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 6 to 10 inches tall and spreading to form a patch 18 inches or more wide, Tahoe Candytuft is ideal for use as a border along paths, walkways or landscape and garden borders or as an underplanting for small trees such as Japanese maples. Perfect for interplanting with spring bulbs. A fine addition to white theme gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 12 to 18 inches apart for solid border or mass plantings; 36 inches apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Candytuft is very easy to grow. It is adaptable to most any average to even poor soil. It prefers a moist but well-drained soil however is exceptionally tolerant of dry soil conditions. It tolerates some shade, but produces more of it’s pretty flowers with more sun. A good choice for poor soils and difficult sites. Looks beautiful in a container or spilling over a wall!
