Description
There just aren’t many flowering shrubs that rival a Snowball Viburnum in full bloom. ‘Kern’s Pink’ takes it to a new level of color featuring abundant clusters of beautiful soft pink flowers in spring that age to white or pink and white bicolor. The flowers are excellent for cutting and use fresh or dried to make beautiful bouquets. Oval-shape, toothed, strongly-veined, dark green leaves tinged in bronze are an excellent backdrop to the flowers and remain attractive throughout the season. At 8 to 10 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide you can grow Kern’s Pink as a shrub or remove lower branches to form an attractive small tree. One of those beauties that will keep you always looking forward to spring!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 8 to 10 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide at maturity, kern’s Pink Snowball Viburnum can be grown as a large shrub or lower branches can be removed to form a highly attractive small tree ideal for use as a colorful specimen or grouping in landscape and flowering shrub borders. Also useful to frame corners of homes and other structures, accentuate entryways, or as espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings. A fine addition to cut flower gardens, pink theme gardens, Viburnum gardens, and cottage gardens.
Growing Preferences
Kern’s Pink Snowball Viburnum is very easy to grow in most any moist but well drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. It prefers a loamy soil. As with so many other ornamental plants, it does not like constantly soggy or wet conditions. Good drought tolerance when established and we’ve seen no serious pest or disease problems. Deer haven’t touched it in our gardens. For best flowering, at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day is suggested. Responds very well to pruning for shaping, size control and tree forming. Prune as needed immediately after flowering.

Plant arrived in great shape. This is not an easy plant to find where I live – an older variety of viburnum – but I’ve had 3 in my gardens for over 25 years, They are the best viburnums – beautiful foliage, gorgeous blooms and the longest lasting show. Thank you!—————————————————–You’re welcome! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
I’ve waited quite a while for this beauty as most everyone was out of stock. I found it here this spring and got my order really quickly. The bush was packaged very well and had no damage. While it’s been a little too cold (zone 7a) at nights for me to feel comfortable putting this bush in the ground, it already has a ton of new growth and even trying flower! Love it!———————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
