Description
Growing to only 2 to 3 feet tall with a broad weeping form, the Chansonette Dwarf Camellia is an evergreen flowering shrub that is a fine selection for foundation plantings, groupings or as a low hedge or border in partially shaded landscape and woodland borders. LOADS of absolutely gorgeous fully double flowers with wavy petals of brilliant purplish-pink are produced over a long period during fall and well into winter on on pendulous branches. The flowers are excellent for cutting and use in indoor floral arrangements.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing only 2 to 3 feet tall and 5 to 8 feet wide (depending on pruning), the Chansonette Camellia is an unusually low grower ideal for use as a specimen in smaller gardens spaces or in groupings, or as hedge or border in landscape beds and woodland borders. Can also be used for espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings or in mass on partially shaded embankments. A fine addition to camellia gardens, pink or lavender/purple theme gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland borders. Also suitable for containers that can be brought indoors during winter by those who garden above USDA Zone 7a, where this camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy. Find Your Zone
Suggested Spacing: 5 feet apart for solid hedge; 12 feet or more apart for space between plants
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Camellia adapt well to various soil types however prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellia grows and blooms better in partial shade with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine.

My package got stuck along the way and took about 2 weeks to deliver. With that said, I was very happy to find a healthy looking plant inside the battered packaging. Packaging was very well done. I can’t wait to get this plant in the ground.———————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
First off, I’ve ordered from these people before and their plants always arrive healthy and well shipped. Now for the camellia. I’ve been searching for a weeping camellia to hang in a basket in a crepe myrtle tree for a few years now. There is a Marjorie Miller found in Australia, but they are hard to get in the USA. I’d given up hope until I ran across this. Can’t wait to get it planted and hung!————————————–Thanks for the kind words!! We are so glad you are pleased with your purchase! What a beautiful Camellia. I recently decided to do a small Camellia garden and since I had never grown Camellia prior to moving to South Carolina, I really didn’t know much about them. The Wilson Bros site provide a ton of information about every type of Camellia you could possibly want and where and how to grow. I finally decided on 4 different Sasanqua varieties. but I must say my very favorite ended up being the last one I ordered, Upon opening the box and seeing this absolutely beautiful Chansonette Dwarf Weeping. Camellia loaded with buds I couldn’t wait to plant it. It has bloomed profusely since planting 2 weeks ago. and the only regret I have is that I didn’t run across this one prior to ordering the others. I would have loved to make may entire front walkway with this gorgeous Camellia. I ordered the 3 gal and was so impressed that I ended up ordering 2 one-gal for my patio urns. However, I was not impressed with the scant amount of branching on the 1 gal. Hardly any buds and several have already fallen off. Hoping next spring the one gal. will fill out. Photos represent 2 weeks of blooms on the 3 gal. Chansonette and I can’t wait until these two beautiful weeping Camellia cover this entire bare area. The perfect pop of color for fall/winter in South Carolina.————————————–Any time you have a problem, please contact Customer Service, we can usually resolve just about any issue you may have.
