Description
Often seen cascading over rocks and walls, or used as a border or groundcover, the Alexander’s White Candytuft is an evergreen flowering perennial that forms a perfect mound of glossy, evergreen foliage that is smothered like snow with clusters of very pretty white flowers in late spring and often again in the fall if spent flowers stems are trimmed off after the spring bloom. One of the plants that will always have you looking forward to spring!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 8 to 10 inches tall and spreading to form a mounding patch to 18 to 24 inches or more wide, the Alexander’s White Candytuft is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces or as border along paths, walkways or landscape and garden borders. Also effecting as a groundcover on slopes. Perfect for interplanting with spring bulbs or a nice spiller plant in combination container gardens. A fine addition to white theme gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 18 inches apart for solid border or mass plantings; 36 inches apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Candytuft is very easy to grow. It is adaptable to most any average to even poor soil. It prefers a moist but well-drained soil however is exceptionally tolerant of dry soil conditions. It tolerates some shade, but produces more of its pretty flowers with more sun. A good choice for poor soils and difficult sites. Looks beautiful in a container or spilling over a wall! Plant with the top of the root ball even with ground level. Care and maintenance are minimal. Feed in spring with an organic plant food. No pruning necessary
